Background: Only son of councilman Tad Elthman, Dearka has seen enough of a politician’s life to know it was too boring for his tastes. Not impressed by business or similar areas of high society, Dearka happily found his niche in the military almost the second he arrived for his first day of academy. As a cadet he jumped at the chance for an exciting military career and breezed through his courses and training exercises, always anticipating the next missions and accepting each challenge with a gratified smirk. His confident, lively attitude coupled with his skills helped him cultivate rivalries and friendships with fellow elite cadets (although those he considered “lower” then him would give you a much different story), and their post-commencement party was the rowdiest ever in the academy’s history. Three years into commissioned service and Dearka still hasn’t gotten tired of the military. As when he was a cadet, he looks forward to and fully enjoys each order and mission, so long as it allows for some excitement (or can be made to do so). All he needs is his orders, his guns, and the chance to improve his combat record. With these, Dearka couldn’t ask for a better life.

Personalty: Dearka is an elite fighter and he knows it. He laughs at “joke” missions that are more suited for less capable soldiers and often finds ways outside of protocol to get what he wants —sometimes dodging the disciplinary repercussions, sometimes not. His superiors have a lot of faith in his skills but doubt his control and self-restraint. Despite all his sharp salutes and spoken obedience to command, Dearka arbitrarily chooses which orders to follow to the letter and which to blatantly disregard. He believes that as long as the objective is reached, the methods are of secondary concern and really, why waste chances to prove you can do more than asked?

Misc.: Assigned to the same base as Yzak Jule, Dearka has always been impressed by Yzak's endless drive to rise in rank and amused by his inconsiderate behavior. Since they share similar elitist and pitiless views, they quickly became good friends. Dearka sticks close to Yzak out of preference and concern, as he is one of the few people able to keep Yzak's violent tantrums and outbursts under control.
